There’s no doubt that young adults seem to be struggling more with their mental health than ever before. This can be down to various reasons. Whatever the reason, increasing mental health concerns among teens and young adults are certainly worrying.
However, one of the benefits of this generation is the ability to talk about their issues, with an impressive emotional awareness. And while social media can be harmful, it also provides people with a platform where they can share their struggles, and maybe motivate others.
This was just the case with a recent video posted by Breamna Kate on the Internet that has gained5. 6 million likes already. In the video, Breanna Kate shared a text conversation with her mom about feeling anxious and wanting to chat. Although her parents live 600 miles away, they hurried to their daughter’s side to chat in person. . . and of course, give her a much-needed hug.
The short video highlights not only the importance of reaching out when in need, but how the unconditional love of a parent can really be just what we all need.
It was adorable to see that both parents went to be by their daughter’s side — and lots of people commented how sweet Breanna Kate’s father was as he patiently waited to get his hug. However, as one person commented on the post: “You are a millionaire. And I’m not talking about money.”
It’s interesting to see how a simple video of parents showing up for their daughter in difficulty proved so popular. Perhaps it’s a call for help so many youngsters would love to make, but don’t feel able to do so for multiple reasons.
However, the message to young adults is clear: If you’re feeling overwhelmed to reach out to your parents, while they might not be able to take a 600-mile trip, they’ll certainly love to know they’re still needed by their much-loved children, and will no doubt do their best to support you.

In smart home AIoT technology, accurate human activity recognition is crucial. It helps smart devices identify various tasks, such as cooking and exercising. Based on this information, the AIoT system can adjust lighting or switch music automatically, thus improving users’ experience while also ensuring energy efficiency. In this context, WiFi-based motion recognition is quite promising: WiFi devices are common, ensure privacy, and tend to be cost-effective.
Recently, in a novel research article, a team of researchers led by Professor Gwanggil Jeon has come up with a new AIoT framework called MSF-Net for WiFi-based human activity recognition.
“As a typical AIoT application, WiFi-based human activity recognition is becoming increasingly popular. However, WiFi-based recognition often has unstable performance due to environmental interference (干扰) . Our goal was to overcome this problem,” Prof. Jeon said.
In this view, the researchers developed the robust deep learning framework MSF-Net, which achieves rough as well as fine activity recognition via channel state information (CSI) .
The researchers performed experiments to prove the performance of their framework, finding that it achieves remarkable Cohen's Kappa scores of 91. 82%, 69. 76%, 85. 91%, and 75. 66% on SignFi, Widar3. 0, UT-HAR, and NTU-HAR datasets, respectively. These values highlight the superior performance of MSF-Net compared to state-of-the-art techniques for WiFi data-based coarse and fine activity recognition.
“The multimodal frequency fusion technique has significantly improved accuracy and efficiency compared to existing technologies, increasing the possibility of practical applications. This research can be used in various fields such as smart homes, and care for the elderly. For instance, it can prevent falls by analyzing the user's movements and contribute to improving the quality of life by establishing a non-face-to-face health monitoring system, ” concludes Prof. Jeon.
Overall, activity recognition using WiFi, the combination of IoT and AI suggested in this work, is expected to greatly improve people's lives through everyday convenience and safety!

C.Solving the problem of inaccessible Internet. D.Making human activity recognition more stable.
10.How does the author prove the good function of MSF-Net
A.By making comparisons. B.By offering charts and diagrams.
C.By displaying users’ assessment. D.By quoting famous scientists’ words.
11.What does the passage mainly talk about
A.The new function of WiFi. B.The application of MSF-Net.

To get treats, apes (猿) eagerly pointed them out to humans who didn’t know where they were, a seemingly simple experiment that demonstrated for the first time that apes will communicate unknown information in the name of teamwork. The study also provides the clearest evidence to date that apes have natural ability to detect another’s ignorance, an ability thought to be uniquely human.
“The ability to intuit gaps in one another’s knowledge is at the heart of our most complex social behaviors,” said co-author Chris Krupenye. “Because this so-called theory of mind supports many of the capacities that make humans unique, like teaching and language, many believe it is absent from animals. But this work demonstrates the rich mental foundations that humans and other apes share.”
Krupenye and co-author Luke Townrow worked with three male bonobos (倭黑猩猩). During the experiment, one of the bonobos would sit with Townrow, facing each other across a table. The bonobo would watch as a second person placed a treat, a grape or a cake, under one of three cups. Sometimes Townrow could see where the treat was going, sometimes he couldn’t. The bonobo could have the treat if Townrow could find it.
Whether or not Townrow saw where the treat was hidden, he’d say, “Where’s the grape ” and then wait 10 seconds. If he’d seen the treat being hidden, during the 10 seconds the ape would usually sit still and wait for the treat. Otherwise, the ape would quickly point to the right cup.
“We predicted that if apes are really tracking ignorance, when their partners lacked knowledge they would be pointing more often and more quickly and that's exactly what they did,” Krupenye said.
The team was excited to further confirm apes’ mental complexity.
“There are debates in the field about the capabilities of primates and for us it was exciting to confirm that they really do have these rich capacities that some people have denied them,” Krupenye said.
Next the team will work to more deeply explore the apes’ motivations and how they think about other individuals’ minds.
12.What does the underlined word “intuit” in paragraph 2 probably mean
A.Narrow. B.Sense. C.Employ. D.Leave.
13.When did the ape point to the cup in the experiment
A.When the ape saw the cup. B.When the ape was thirsty.
C.When the ape wanted to eat. D.When Townrow didn’t see the treat.
14.What will the researchers do next
A.Further confirm apes’ complex mind. B.Go on exploring apes’ learning ability.
C.Carry out debates about apes’ capabilities. D.Do more experiments to prove the finding.
15.What can be a suitable title for the passage
A.Can’t See Clearly — Apes Can B.Don’t Cooperate — Treat Works
C.Don’t Know Something — Apes Can Tell D.Can’t Speak — Apes Can Make a Gesture

Ten-Dollar Blessing
I made my way to the office, still thinking of the strange dream I made last night.
My classroom was out on a lot next to the main building. When I got to the top, I noticed a folded and wet ten-dollar bill stuck to the ground. I looked around but there was nobody in sight. Whose money could it be It was so early and I was the first one to come. Then the students came flooding in. So I put the wet bill in my pocket, thinking I would ask other teachers after class. But when the class was over, I forgot the bill completely.
At noon, I walked two blocks to the closest Mexican restaurant for lunch that day. As I was ready to pay, I remembered the ten-dollar bill. It was still a bit wet. Unfolding it, I realized it was wrapped around a Target receipt. The receipt was also damp, but I could make out the words on it. I looked at the time and date on the receipt and the address of the store. Maybe I could find out who went to the store two days ago. Having decided to do the right thing, I handed the cashier my bank card and put the damp bill back into my pocket.
I returned to work and asked two co-workers if they had been to Target lately. They both replied “no”. It couldn’t have been one of the students because they hadn't yet arrived when I found the money. It couldn’t be the gatekeeper who cleaned the classrooms every day because he was on vacation. It was another woman gatekeeper who was doing his work.
That evening I went home and took another look at the receipt. This time, instead of just looking at the date and address, I read the whole thing. The person who dropped the money had bought two items: iced tea and popcorn. I stared at the word. Popcorn. The person who lost money must have bought popcorn.
注意:1. 续写词数应为150个左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题纸的相应位置作答。
The next morning when I unlocked my classroom door, I realized the room had already been cleaned.

I walked over, looked in through the tiny door window and saw a lady sweeping the room. She must be a substitute gatekeeper who did the cleaning. I slowly turned the doorknob and stepped in. I said, “Good morning! ” Hearing my voice, she looked up. She greeted me politely, asking if this was my classroom.
“No, I’m in the next room, but I want to ask you something,” I said to the woman gatekeeper. Then I asked if she lost any money recently. Looking surprised, she responded that she had ten dollars in her back pocket but was not sure if it was lost. Then I asked if she had gone to Target.
