In a community (社区) in Changsha, Hunan, there is a special hair salon (理发店). The owner is
71-year-old Tang Jinlian from Yongzhou, Hunan.
The salon is open from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., serving around 10 people every day. Tang only
asks for three yuan for each haircut (理发).
Tang’s daughter became ill when she was three. Because of this, Tang and her daughter got a
lot of help from others. To give back to others, Tang learned how to cut hair and hoped to serve others.
In 2004, Tang’s son came to work in Changsha. Tang and her daughter followed. At first, Tang
