情境2 针对Nancy的烦恼,大家展开了激烈的讨论,并发表了各自的看法。
(新语篇类型·论坛)
From: Nancy
Time: 10: 00 a.m. on Sunday; March 9th
I’m Nancy. I prepared very hard for the English competition, but I didn’t win. It made me unhappy. I don’t know if it’s good or bad for me to take part in competitions.
I think competing with others is good for teenagers in many ways.
Firstly, competitions provide students with chances(机会) to
push themselves. By taking part in competitions, students can set goals(目标), work hard, and experience different activities. Secondly, competitions help students develop important skills, such as problem-solving and decision-making skills.
In my opinion, it is not good for teenagers’ development to compete with others.
First, in order to be better than others, many teenagers put too much pressure on themselves. It’s not good for their health. They may even be angrier and more upset if they do not get better grades after working very hard. Next, during competition, it’s easy for them to forget some good values(价值观) such as being kind and helping others. Finally, teenagers who love to compete often forget that not all problems can be solved by just competing.
Competing with others is important. Many students may feel pushed by their classmates to work harder to improve their grades. At the same time, competing in learning and sports helps them do better in teamwork, communication, and problem solving.
I agree with Judy. When competing, students may pay much attention to(太过关注) the results and miss their own studies and growth. So I think that teenagers should not compete with others. We should help each other to solve problems and make progress(进步).
