As we all know, Chinese has a history of thousands of years. But few people know that Pinyin doesn’t. It is very necessary and important for everyone who learns Chinese because it tells people how to pronounce Chinese characters(汉字). 61 In 1958, Chinese 52-year-old linguist(语言学家) Zhou Youguang and his team made Pinyin. There are 63 Pinyin in total. Before that, Chinese people used many other ways to show how to pronounce Chinese characters. 62 Because of Pinyin, more people learn how to pronounce Chinese characters.

Pinyin is young. But it is now very popular outside China. 64 Many people around the world start to learn Chinese by learning Pinyin. You might say “nihao” to mean “hello” to a foreign friend.
People are using Pinyin more often than before. 65 They like to use “jiaozi”. And “mantou” is for “steamed bun”. The Oxford English Dictionary has more than 100 Chinese words in Pinyin such as ‘zhongguomeng” for “Chinese dream”, and “wanggou” for online shopping.
A. Pinyin is a big part of our daily life. B. This year, Pinyin becomes 66 years old. C. It is easy to read and write Chinese Characters. D. But these ways are not as easy to use as Pinyin. E. For example, fewer foreigners use“dumplings”. F. It is becoming a bridge between China and the world.

From food lovers to learning or travel partners, young people have been looking for new ways to connect with others and have fun together. A popular way to do so is through dazi socializing.
The word “dazi” comes from the Shanghai dialect (方言). People first used it to talk about card - playing friends. Now, it refers to the partners who join in certain activities together. And a dazi is not like a close friend or family member. People usually don’t have a long and strong relationship with their dazi.
These years, more people are trying to look for a dazi to enjoy food, go on a trip, or study together. A study of 1,330 young people shows that 70 percent have one or more dazi. Nearly 69 percent believe that finding a dazi is a brave step in moving out of their comfort zone to find a new lifestyle. Xiaomi is one of such people. Xiaomi, born in 1981, is an office worker in Shenzhen. She has looked for travel partners more than once. This March Xiaomi went to Gansu Province and found a travel partner there. She also found another dazi during the trip. They all had great fun during the journey. “We later started a chat group on WeChat, and we often shared good books and life experiences in it. Starting as travel partners, we have become friends. I think I’m lucky,” Xiaomi said.
Finding a dazi is not always good, and it can be dangerous sometimes. Remember to be careful and pay attention to your personal safety when you look for a dazi.
