Jason and his father were going to a supermarket by car to pick up some apples. It had been an unusual day. The sky was dark but there were few clouds. As they drove up the street, there started to be a loud sound heard across the ground.
Jason's father immediately realized that a tornado(龙卷风) was coming. He stopped the car and told Jason to get out immediately. Jason and his father got out of the car and made their way to the closest building. By this time the wind was blowing harder, and it was hard to see or hear. Jason couldn't see his dad anymore. He also realized that he wasn't getting to the building fast enough. He was afraid he would be picked up by the wind and thrown into the air.
As he made his way towards the building, he noticed a field to his right. He could see an irrigation ditch (灌溉渠). He felt really afraid inside because he'd never been in a tornado before. His heart began to race and he could feel sweat dripping down from his face. In a panic, he started running towards the ditch as fast as he could. He stumbled(绊倒)a bit as he climbed down into it, but soon he was lying flat on the ground, hiding inside. He could hear his heart beating even more loudly and felt his whole body shaking.____
After a while, the wind died down and the loud roaring sound was gone. Jason slowly lifted his head and nervously looked around. What he saw was a great mess. Jason could hardly recognize the buildings in front of him because of all the damage.
He stood up and with his legs shaking and walked to the building. Once there, he pushed the door open and went inside. It was a public building owned by the city. It was empty, but Jason could hear noises further inside. He walked into the large room and saw his dad. He ran across the room and gave him a big hug.
"Jason! How are you I've been so worried about you!" said his father. "I couldn't find you anywhere!"
Jason breathed a sigh of a relief(松了一口气) and sat down. He did have a story to tell!

I always told my children that they were smart all the time. Especially in the first years of their life, they learned skills and language so quickly. I had a particularly clear memory of watching my son work out how to play a Lego toy and I told him, "You' re a such architectural(建筑的) genius. Mom is proud of you."
But some research suggests that we should not tell our children they' re"smart" when they do important things. When I first heard about it, I disagreed. But after doing some research, I gradually agreed. It all goes back to"growth mindset", which means that you can change your abilities through hard work and strategies(策略) . Compared to a"growth mindset", a"fixed mindset" is the idea that your abilities are inborn and can't be changed. When we praise our children for being"smart" based on success, like solving a problem or doing well on a test. we' re encouraging them to believe that if they do poorly or make mistakes, they' re not smart.
And it's not just what we say about our children's success that matters — it's how we tolerate(容忍) their failures. A study led by a scientist named Kyle shows if parents think that failure is shameful, their children are more likely to be derailed by mistakes. For example, Dr. Kyle explains, your children may have difficulty in solving math problems and you may say something like"Not everyone needs to be good at numbers" as a way to comfort them. But what you' re really doing is suggesting that their math abilities are already set, and can't be changed.
Whatever you say to your kids, it's about getting them comfortable with failures. Here are some tips from Dr. Kyle. One way is to praise kids' hard work instead of their intelligence. As Dr. Kyle pointed out, if we praise a kid for a school project he finished in five minutes, he would know our praise is empty. Instead, we can ask him questions about how he did it, which can help us know how to praise future hard work. Also, we can talk about our mistakes. We don't have to hide our negative(消极的) feelings. If we point out our missteps and explain how we insisted, our children can learn to do the same.
33.What did the author believe about praising children's intelligence at first
A.It should be avoided and changed.
B.It was important and encouraged.
C.It was harmful to their development.
D.It should only be done for great achievements.
34.Why shouldn't parents always praise children for their intelligence
A.Because it would make children unwilling to try harder.
B.Because children would be tired of hearing praise.
C.Because children would become overconfident.
D.Because it would make children doubt themselves when they do wrong.
35.Which can best replace the underlined word"derailed" in paragraph 3
A.encouraged B.praised C.prevented D.received
36.Which of the following does Dr. Kyle suggest parents should do
A.Hide their negative feelings.
B.Work out a solution together with kids.
C.Focus on kids' process of finishing a task.
D.Try to avoid talking about their missteps.

Recently, 76% of people between the ages of 65 and 74, who took part in a survey, said they used social media, compared to 40% five years earlier. An increase in social media use was also seen among people aged 75 and over. A growing number of elderly people are active on social networks and are using the Internet to make calls.
