Everyone wants to have friends, and friendships are important to teenagers all over the world. However, when people start a friendship, they sometimes expect too much from it. Here are four things about friendship that people believe are true. But in fact they aren’t.
Myth no. 1: A real friend will never disappoint you.
Myth no. 2: The more friends you have, the better.
Myth no. 3: Friends share everything.
Myth no. 4: If you have no friends, something is wrong with you.
In our show, we spoke to teens from different countries. Read what they think.
Burcu, Istanbul, Turkey
Nobody is perfect, so why do we think friends can be perfect We all make mistakes, so it’s only normal that there are times when good friends make mistakes, too. Perhaps you think that a really good friend always knows what you need. That’s wrong—be careful! Sometimes you need to say to your friends, “Please do this” or “Don’t do that”. Don’t forget that there are times when you’re stressed or unhappy, too. Then they can’t help you the way you would like them to.
Flavia, Sao Paulo, Brazil
There can be times in your life when you have a lot of friends, and over times when you have only one or two. Maybe you don’t have many friends right now because, for example, you are in a new city or school. When you don’t have any friends, it’s important to wait and be patient. Make sure you are a cordial person—so other people want to make friends with you.
Fernanda, Quito, Ecuador
You want to be a good friend, right To build a good friendship, it’s important to have fun together, to listen to your friends when they have a problem, to help them when they need you , or just to go and watch a film together, or play some sport. And that takes time! That’s why I think it’s better to have one or two friends, and not a lot of friends.
Nikolay, Florence, Italy
It’s not a good idea to wait for others to make you happy. There are times when you are happy, and other times when you are sad. And when you are not happy, try to think, “What can I do to stop this How can I help myself ” Friendship is a place to share happiness, but there may be times when you and your friends aren’t happy. And that’s OK.

MBTI is a personality test that is used to identify different personality types. According to the test, people can 61 into sixteen different types based on their 62 for many matters such as introversion (内向型)/extraversion (外向型), and thinking/feeling. In this essay, we will focus only on the differences between “e” people and “i” people.
According to a survey, “e” people tend to be more outgoing and willing to be active in 63 relations than “i” people. They enjoy meeting new people, and 64 parties. On the other hand, “i” people prefer spending time alone or in small groups, than 65 with others. When it comes to making friends, “e” people tend to have a larger circle of friends and build stronger 66 with others quickly, while “i” people would like to bound with a smaller group of people.
Moreover, some 67 that are considered polite or acceptable by “e” people may be considered rude by “i” people. For example, “e” people may interrupt (打断) others in conversation or talk loudly, which can be off-putting to “i” people. In this case, “i” people seem to be 68 or even cold to “e” people.
While MBTI test can help us identify different people, the result can 69 change over time. “i” people may become more outgoing as they practice socializing and get confidence, while “e” people may become 70 in making new friends as they age and only look for relaxation and a quiet ‘me time’.

Have you ever tried to hide your emotions (情感)from someone during a conversation 71
Scientists from the Ohio State University have found that people are able to tell other people’s emotions according to changes in the color of their faces.
Scientists studied pictures of people’s facial expressions. 72 For example, happiness makes our faces red around the cheeks and a little blue around the chin. Disgust(厌恶)creates not only a blue-yellow color around the lips, but also a red- green color around the nose and forehead.
“We believe these color patterns are the result of small changes in blood flow triggered(触发) by the central nervous(神经) system." Lead researcher Alex Martinez said.
73 Does the color alone or also facial expressions help people tell other’s emotions
To figure this out, scientists added color patterns to pictures of faces that showed no facial expressions. 74 They were able to tell the emotions 75 percent of the time without any difficulty. 75 For example, when two people are heatedly arguing over something, we say they are red in the face. When a person is very angry, we'd say he or she is blue in the face.
A.But this raises a question.
B.It is shown that human emotions are influenced by colors on the face.
C.They found that every facial expression is connected to a certain color.
D.It's not always easy, because the color on your face may tell the truth.
E.Then, volunteers were asked to tell what emotions the faces were showing.
F.This is why there are some Chinese sayings that connect emotions to the color of one’s face.

Each year, the US Social Security Administration (美国社会保障局) announces a list of the most popular baby names of the year. Nearly every US citizen is registered (注册) with the organization, making it easy to create an exact list.
According to the list, we can see the changes in society and culture over the years. For example, names such as Dorothy and Margaret (for girls) and Harold and Walter (for boys) were popular in the 1910s. But these days, some names are considered that they can’t keep up with the times. Other examples of these names include Gladys and Ethel (for girls) and Howard and Clarence (for boys).
The list also shows which names are most common during a certain period—and which ones are more rare (稀有的). For example, in the 1980s—when I was born—the most common name was Michael. It happens to be my name.
But some more unusual names have become widely liked and chosen in recent years. From 2016 to 2017, the names “Wells” and “Kairo” (for boys) and “Ensley” and “Oaklynn” (for girls) all became more popular. But these names are still quite rare compared to more ordinary names.
Even pop culture plays a role in how popular names become. For example, the name “Isabella” saw a huge jump and became one of the most popular names in 2009. This was because of the success of the Twilight film series, in which one of the main characters is named Isabella.
Most popular names in the U.S.
Fact The list of the most popular names is the 76 of changes in society and culture.
77 Some names like Margaret and Walter are not popular because they are considered to be 78 . The most common names and rare names during a certain period are also listed. Some unusual names have won 79 in recent years. Some names like Isabella are chosen under 80 pop culture.
Conclusion Although more and more names are becoming popular, ordinary names will remain popular all the time.

81.1.Chinese Internet slang
2.pronunciation
3.Dear David,
How are you doing You showed your interest and curiosity in Chinese Internet slang in your last e-mail. Now, I’m writing to share something about it.
In Chinese, we create Internet slang mainly by replacing a word with another that has a similar pronunciation. And I’ll explain it in two ways- numbers and characters.
Firstly, we use number slang online widely . For example, “520” can be seen often. These numbers are pronounced as “wu-er-ling” in Chinese, which means “I love you” in English. Another is “886”, which sounds like the Chinese characters for “bye-bye”.
Then, we also use slang coming from characters. “Xi Fan Ni” is one of our popular online expressions for “like you”, since they have similar pronunciations.
You can often find such Internet slang in Chinese. It has become a necessary part of our language because it’s both simple and fun. More importantly, these slang expressions are products and symbols of our culture.
Is there such slang in English Can you tell me something about it All the best!
Yours,
Li Tao
