We choose what we want to study and how. We can work in 89 or study on our own. If you wanted to start a new school magazine, you would suggest it to the teachers. This is how the Free School works. The ideas 90 the students and everyone works together to make them happen. It’s a great experience and I love going to the Free School!

Then she saw the leader of the marathoners, Chandler Self, 162 a sudden pain of her legs. Making up her mind to finish, Self rose from the 163 and went on, but fell again after another 50 meters.
Before Self’s coach could reached her, Luterman 164 went over to help her. The first 165 to get her up failed, but Luterman didn’t 166 . With a second pull, Self was on her feet and finally she was 167 to cross the finish line first.

If anyone can be called a scientific giant after Albert Einstein, that person must be Stephen Hawking. He was born in Oxford, England on Jan. 8th, 1942. What a pity On March 14th, 2018, the world-famous British scientist 171 in Cambridge, UK.
After leaving high school Hawking went first to Oxford University 172 he studied physics and then went to Cambridge University where he studied cosmology(宇宙学). As he himself admited, he didn’t work hard. And he did 173 work. However, he always enjoyed thinking everything around him, especially the universe. Today, he is called the King of the Universe.
It was at the age of 21 that Hawking first 174 something was wrong with him. He started to bump into some things. When he visited his family at Christmas time, his mother was so worried that she 175 him see a doctor. Hawking was sent to hospital for tests. Finally, the result came back. He 176 to have motor neuron disease(运动神经元病), an incurable illness which would make him unable to speak, breathe or move 177 the help of a machine. Doctors said they had no ways to help him. He might die before 23.
178 , Hawking became very depressed. After a while, though, he began to see his life in a different way. As he later wrote, “After my illness was diagnosed(诊断), I was very 179 with life. There had not seemed to be anything worth doing. But shortly after I came out of hospital, I suddenly realized that there were a lot of worthwhile(值得做的) things I could do." Then Hawking got married and found a job at Cambridge University as a professor. We strongly believe that his story shows that 180 , how had their situation is, should lose hope. “Life is not fair.” He once said, “You just have to do the best you can in your own situation.”

Evelyn Glennie was the first lady of solo percussion in Scotland. In an interview, she talked about how she became a percussion soloist(打击乐器独奏演员)in spite of deafness.
“Early on I decided not to allow the 181 of others to stop me from becoming a musician. I grew up on a farm in northeast Scotland and began 182 piano lessons when I was eight. The older I got, the more my passion(酷爱)for music grew. But I also began to lose my 183 . Doctors told me that the nerve damage(神经损伤) was the 184 and by age twelve, I was completely deaf. But my love for music never left me.”
“My 185 was to become a percussion soloist, even though there were none at that time. To perform, I learned to ‘hear’ music differently from others. I play in my stocking feet and can 186 the pitch of a note(音调高低)by the vibrations(振动)I feel through my body and through my imagination. My sound world exists by making use of almost every 187 that I have.”
“I decided to be a musician even though I was deaf, and applied to the famous Royal Academy of Music in London. No other deaf student had 188 this before and some teachers disagreed with me. Because of my performance, I finally entered the academy and went on to 189 with the academy’s highest honors a few years later.”
“I’ve been a soloist for more than ten years. 190 the doctor thought I was totally deaf, it didn’t mean that my passion couldn’t be realized. I would encourage people not to allow themselves to be limited by others. Follow your passion; follow your heart. They will lead you to the place you want to go.”

It’s spring now. New leaves come out from the tree. Everything begins to turn green. It makes us feel happy.
I watch the apple trees and remember a little story.
A long time ago, there was an apple tree and a little boy. The boy came and 191 around it every day. He climbed to the tree top, ate the 192 , and rest under the shadow (树荫). He loved the tree and the tree loved him. Time went by … The little boy 193 up and no longer played around it. The old tree was very sad. It didn’t know 194 The boy said, “I am not a kid. I want to play with toys. But I don’t have money.”
“You needn’t 195 about it. Pick all my apples and sell them, you will have money.” After that the boy didn’t come back. Years later, the boy returned and the tree was happy. But 196 its surprise, the boy cut it down to build a house. Many years later the boy returned again. The old tree was happy and said to him “Sorry, my boy. I can’t give you 197 more. The only thing left is my dying roots. But you can sit down and rest here. This is your forever 198
This is a story of everyone. The tree is our parents. When we were young, we loved playing with them. When we grow up, we 199 them, and only come to them when we need something or are in trouble. No matter what happens, parents will be there and give what they have to make us 200
We may say the boy is cruel (冷酷的) to the tree but that’s how we are treating (对待) our parents. Nowadays, many old people feel lonely because their children don’t live with them. We hope all of us try to help those old people and manage to make the old have a happy life.

The story follows Ace, whose life changes greatly when he moves to the countryside. After trying on a pair of magical wellies(长筒靴), Ace realizes he can speak to the animals, who make up their minds to protect the farm.
Gill says that if he had his own pair of magical wellies, he would love to speak to wildlife, especially the wild deer(鹿) that sometimes appear near his farm. As they have no owners, Gill feels like he’s sharing their home. “It’s really interesting to hear what they’re thinking and know where they’re at,” he said.
Gill got his ideas for writing from the animals on his family farm. His children, Ace and Chiara, helped out with his book.
