Dear Peter,
I’m a pretty quiet person like you. I don’t really like to talk too much either — even with people I like. I can understand how you feel. And I might be able to give you some advice.
Do you have other friends at school Maybe you can just try to leave your dormitory (宿舍) and spend more time with your friends. You could also find a new hobby that takes up more of your time. If Jerry sees that you’re busy working on something, he might not bother you.
However, you’d better just tell Jerry that you would like to stay alone. You don’t have to tell him that you don’t like him — just tell him that you’re a little shy. He will probably understand.

Do you want to be perfect Do you get bored when life is not perfect If so, you are a perfectionist (完美主义者). Perfectionists always try to do everything perfectly. Some perfectionists may want other people around them to be perfect, too.
It can be good to try to be excellent. For example, if a football player is a perfectionist, he will work hard and try to do perfectly in a game. Sometimes we hope others to be perfectionists. For example, when a doctor is carrying out an operation , we would like it to be perfect.
But perfectionism can also have bad effects . There are three different kinds of perfectionism.
The first kind is about oneself. A person wants himself to be perfect. When he fails , he will be really sad. Another kind is about others. Such a perfectionist will criticize the people around him if they don’t do something perfectly. The third kind believes that other people want him to be perfect. All the three kinds of perfectionism may cause problems like too much pressure, drinking too much, eating junk food or being nervous easily.
To be perfect is wonderful, but we should learn to accept the best and the worst of who we are. Some things about us will never change and we should believe we are good enough.
( )72. In Paragraph 2, the writer uses the two examples to show that _______.
A. perfectionism is bad for people
B. players are all perfectionists
C. perfectionism is good in some ways
D. one should be a perfectionist if he wants to be successful
( )73. Which of the following is an example of the third kind of perfectionism
A. Jenny always thinks that her husband does nothing well.
B. Danny wishes his daughter to do everything perfectly.
C. Tony thinks his mom will be happy only when he does a good job.
D. Paul wants himself to be perfect and always tries his best.
( )74. What can we do if we aren’t perfect
A. Keep criticizing those around us.
B. Drink less and eat more healthy food.
C. Exercise more and see a doctor more often.
D. Accept both good and bad sides of our life.
( )75. What does the writer want to tell us
A. We should see perfectionism properly.
B. Everyone needs to be a perfectionist.
C. We should stay away from perfectionism.
D. There are three different kinds of perfectionism.

Dear Mr. Hunt,
My problem is that I can't get on with my family. Relations between my parents have become difficult. They fight a lot, and I really don't like it. It’s the only communication they have. I don't know if I should say anything to them about this.
Sad and Thirteen
Dear Sad and Thirteen,
It's not easy being your age, and it's normal to have these feelings. Why don't you talk about these feelings with your family If your parents are having problems, you should offer to help. Maybe you could do more jobs around the house so that they have more time for proper communication.

One possible version:
Dear Mike,
I am sorry to hear that your parents refuse to let you talk with your friends on the phone. I understand how you feel and I hope I have some good advice for you.
Firstly, you should try to explain to them that your friends are important to you instead of arguing with your parents. Secondly, you should tell your parents that you need a short break after busy study. And it won`t make much difference to your schoolwork, so they don`t need to worry. Finally, you should let them know that your friends are of the same age as you and you have the same problems and worries to discuss.
I am sure it will all work out and they will show understanding.
Good luck!
Yours,
Sam
