One morning, Ann's neighbor Tracy found a lost dog wandering around the local elementary school. She asked Ann if she could keep an eye on the dog. Ann said that she could watch it only for the day.
Tracy took photos of the dog and printed off 400 FOUND fliers (传单), and put them in mailboxes. Meanwhile, Ann went to the dollar store and bought some pet supplies, warning her two sons not to fall in love with the dog. At the time, Ann's son Thomas was 10 years old, and Jack, who was recovering from a heart operation, was 21 years old.
Four days later Ann was still looking after the dog, whom they had started to call Riley. When she arrived home from work, the dog threw itself against the screen door and barked madly at her. As soon as she opened the door, Riley dashed into the boys' room where Ann found Jack suffering from a heart attack. Riley ran over to Jack, but as soon as Ann bent over to help him the dog went silent.
“If it hadn't come to get me, the doctor said Jack would have died,” Ann reported to a local newspaper. At this point, no one had called to claim the dog, so Ann decided to keep it.
The next morning Tracy got a call. A man named Peter recognized his lost dog and called the number on the flier. Tracy started crying, and told him, “That dog saved my friend's son.”
Peter drove to Ann's house to pick up his dog, and saw Thomas and Jack crying in the window. After a few moments Peter said, “Maybe Odie was supposed to find you, maybe you should keep it.”
24. What did Tracy do after finding the dog
A. She looked for its owner. B. She gave it to Ann as a gift.
C. She sold it to the dollar store. D. She bought some food for it.
25. How did the dog help save Jack
A. By breaking the door for Ann. B. By leading Ann to Jack's room.
C. By dragging Jack out of the room. D. By attending Jack when Ann was out.
26. What was Ann's attitude to the dog according to Paragraph 4
A. Sympathetic. B. Doubtful. C. Tolerant. D. Grateful.
27. What can we infer about the dog from the last paragraph
A. It would be given to Odie. B. It would be kept by Ann's family.
C. It would be returned to Peter. D. It would be taken away by Tracy.
A 25. B 26. D 27. B
根据第二段第一句“Tracy took photos of the dog and printed off 400 FOUND fliers(传单), and put them in mailboxes.(Tracy给狗拍照,印了400份找狗的传单并把它们放在网上。)”
根据第三段句子“When she arrived home from work, the dog threw itself against the screen door and barked madly at her. 【26题详解】
推理判断题。根据第四段Ann跟报社说的话“If it hadn’t come to get me, the doctor said Jack would have died,” Ann reported to a local newspaper. At this point, no one had called to claim the dog ”可知,如果不是狗领着Ann找到Jack,Jack可能就死了。
根据最后一段“After a few moments Peter said, “Maybe Odie was supposed to find you, maybe you should keep it.”可知,过了一会儿,彼得说: “也许Odie应该去找你,也许你应该养着它。由此判断出,狗最终是留在了Ann的家里。故选B。
C
If you're reading this, you were probably born in the 2000s. The oh-ohs(00后).The 21st century. That would make you young, creative, connected, global, and no doubt smart. Maybe good-looking,too. Right But what do other people think about your generation
Some adults worry that you're more interested in the screen in front of you than the world around you. They think of you as the“face-down generation” because you use your phone so much and they wonder how you will deal with school, friends, and family. Are today's teenagers too busy texting and taking selfies(自拍)to become successful in real life-or“IRL”, as you would say
Other adults worry that today's youth are spoilt(宠坏的)and don't want to face the challenges of adult life. Many children born in the 1990s and 2000s were raised by"helicopter parents” who were always there to guide and help them with a busy schedule filled with homework and extra-curricular activities such as dancing, drawing, or sports. With partners who do everything for them, today's youth seem to prefer to live like teenagers even when they are in their 20s or 30s.
Does the face-down generation need a heads-up Well, probably not. The fact is that many of today's teenagers are better educated and more creative than past generations. They also seem to be enthusiastic(热情的)and willing to become leaders. More young people than ever volunteer to help their communities. There are also brave young people such as Malala Yousafzai, the teenager who won the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize for pushing girls' rights to go to school.
So if you're one of the oh-ohs,there's reason to be hopeful about the future. Things are looking up for the face-down generation. Chances are that you will do GR8(great) and LOL(laugh out loud).
28. Today's teenagers are thought of as the face-down generation because
A. They are busy texting
B. They use their phones a lot
C. They deal with school and family with their phones
D. They become successful with their phones
29. What does"helicopter parents" mean in Paragraph 3
A Parents who prefer to live like teenagers
B. Parents who often fly everywhere for their business
C. Parents who do dancing, drawing or sports with their children
D. Parents who always guide and help children with homework and extra-curricular activities
30. What does the writer think about the face-down generation
A. They are annoyed.
B. They are powerful.
C. They are spoilt.
D. They are positive.
31. What's the best title of this passage
A. The face-down generation
B. The young generation
C. The generation gap
D. The future generation
B 29. D 30. D 31. A

根据第三段中关于helicopter parents后定语从句的描述“… who were always there to guide and help their children with a busy schedule filled with homework and after-class activities such as dancing, drawing, or sports.”(他们总是在那里指导和帮助孩子完成繁忙的家庭作业和课外活动,如舞蹈、绘画或体育。)
根据文章倒数第二段“Does the face-down generation need a heads-up Well, probably not. The fact is that many of today's teenagers are better educated and more creative than past generations. They also seem to be enthusiastic(热情的)and willing to become leaders. More young people than ever volunteer to help their communities. There are also brave young people such as Malala Yousafzai, the teenager who won the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize for pushing girls' rights to go to school.”(“脸朝下的一代”需要提醒吗 好吧,也许不是。
故选A项。

I even stayed on a private island with its very own lighthouse, which was one of the coolest places I’ve ever visited and one of the most romantic places to stay in Scotland.
Cairngorms National Park
This is the largest national park in the UK so it’s another popular place to visit in Scotland and it’s no surprise why.
Peter drove to Ann's house to pick up his dog and saw Thomas and Jack crying in the window. After a few moments Peter said, “Maybe Odie was supposed to find you, maybe you should keep it.”
24. What did Tracy do after finding the dog
A. She looked for its owner. B. She gave it to Ann as a gift.

A. Parents who prefer to live like teenagers
