But a street light or passing car lights made clothes hanging over a chair look like a big animal or a scary 28 that only appeared at night in people’s mind. Out of the corner of my window, I saw the curtains (窗帘) moving terribly from time to time 29 there wasn’t wind at all. A tiny sound at night would seem a hundred times louder than that in the daytime. My heart would beat 30 . All I could do was to 31 on the bed quietly so that the “enemy” would not discover me.
Another of my childhood fears was that I would get lost, especially on my way home from school. Every morning I 32 the school bus near my home. That was no problem. One of the processes of growing up is being able to overcome our fears. As we grow up, we’ll gradually know the things that scared 33 when we were children. And the more we understand, the braver we will be.

All of us may have the similar experiences. We pronounced a simple word wrong in class or we talked about someone without realizing that he was right behind us.
Though these embarrassing moments don’t harm us a lot, they come back from time to time and make us feel upset. Even if these moments may have faded after some time, we would always remember the feeling of embarrassment. When these kinds of feelings return, they are known as a “cringe attack”.
I think back to a party when I was younger. I ate a bowl of strawberries by myself. My parents shouted at me in front of everyone for being so selfish (自私的). From then on every time I put a strawberry into my mouth, my brain just throws that embarrassing scene back.
Why do these “cringe attacks” still pop up in our daily lives even if the actual events happened months, or even years ago? According to researchers, our brains give special attention to feelings that can be easily noticed.
You are not alone in the embarrassment—everyone makes embarrassing mistakes. Instead of just trying to forget what we did, we should try to accept who we were at that moment and think about how we can change for the better.

Everyone gets sad. Sad feelings can happen pretty often. More than half of the teenagers go through a sad period at least once a month.
When you’re sad,it feels like it will last forever. However, feelings of sadness usually don’t last very long—for a few hours,or maybe a day or two.
When you’re sad, the world seems dark and unfriendly. Many times, you cry, and it’s hard to stop. Crying usually makes you feel better. When sadness starts to go away,it feels like a heavy blanket is being lifted from your heart.
If sad feelings go on for too long, it’s called depression (抑郁症). Children who have depression may not know it. Often, it’s a parent or a teacher who notices changes in children’s behavior.
When depression happens,it’s very important for children to receive treatment (治疗). When they do,they can get better quickly. Sometimes treatment includes talking to someone who knows all about depression. Sometimes it means taking medicine. Sometimes both of these things are used.
If you think you have depression, or you just have sadness that simply will not go away, it is important to talk to an adult about it. This person can help you find the right type of treatment. Many cities also have mental health hot lines that are listed in the phone book. There is always somebody who can help.

Strawberries look nice, but a light pressure can make them out of shape. Nowadays, there are many young people who are just like strawberries. They easily break down when they face difficulties. They have a common name—strawberry kids.
Why are many students so easy to break down? Parents and schools are a main reason. Many parents hope their children can study hard, get good grades, and then go to a good college. The children are only allowed to study but do nothing else. They don’t have any chances to make any decision to do anything. At the same time, schools care more about their grades instead of developing their personality. So children don’t have the ability to deal with problems and bear all kinds of pressure. Luckily, some of them try to ask for help.
Dear Mr. Know, My mom hardly criticizes(批评) me and I always feel good about myself. When a teacher criticized me strictly, I felt surprised and sad. I began to doubt my ability. Liu Yue Dear Mr. Know, Last term, I took part in an English competition. I tried hard, but still failed. I didn’t get a prize. I cried for a long time after that, because I thought I was not good at anything and was laughed at by my classmates. Wang Hui
As we can see, students should do something to make themselves mentally(精神上) strong. The expert Mr. Know’s advice can help them out.
Dear kids, Everyone has problems, so it’s normal for you to feel stressed sometimes. When you are in trouble, don’t ask for help at once or just run away from it. You should try to bravely deal with the problem first by yourself. In this way, you can gradually learn how to think independently. Then talking about your problem with others is also helpful. It’s said that sharing a problem is like cutting it in half. Your parents, your teachers and even your friends have more experience than you. So feel free to turn to them for help. And I also advise you to take an active part in social activities, which can open your eyes to the outside world and help you gain the knowledge and abilities that books can’t teach you. All these ways can make you mentally strong. Mr. Know
Life is too short and life is important! Try your best to get along well with the people around you and smile at your life. Growing up is not just a happy process, but pains also go along with it. The most important thing is to face the pains and learn from them.
