(2021·山东省青岛市高二检测)It is National Sleep Awareness Week and reflecting on the importance of this basic act is timely. As a preventive cardiologist(心脏病医生),I work with patients who want to improve their health and lengthen their lives. Many of them have major risk factors for heart disease;others already have heart disease or have experienced a heart attack.
Traditionally, patients who want to improve their heart health have received four main suggestions from their doctors:eat a healthy diet, get more exercise, quit smoking and enjoy proper amounts of alcohol. Plenty of research backs up these four pieces of advice:Large amounts of studies have found that making improvements in these four areas lowers the chance of dying of heart disease by 67 percent.
But lately, researchers are starting to recognise that there should be five recommendations on that list, not just four. They are discovering that getting enough sleep is a powerful health protector as well. When researchers include enough their studies as a fifth cardio-preventive behaviour change, they find that it lowers the chance of dying of heart disease even more: adding good seven hours of sleep a night in addition to making positive changes in diet, exercise, smoking, and alcohol intake lowers the chance of dying of heart disease by83 percent.
When that news started coming out, doctors began tagging sleep onto their lists of recommended health behaviour changes. But I don’t think sleep should be at the bottom of the list. I think it should be at the top i believe that getting enough sleep -at least seven to eight hours per night for most people——is the most important health behaviour change you can make to improve the health of your heart and your overall health.
Sure, I’d prefer that everyone make all of the big five lifestyle changes, but if I could only choose one, I’d choose sleep because when you are well-rested you have more power to make the right choices about what you eat and drink, and you have more energy to exercise and you have the resilience you need to kick bad habits, such as smoking and overeating. But when you’re exhausted, everything in life is more difficult.
4. What does plenty of research show about the four common suggestions
A. They are the best ways found so far.
B. They are not as helpful as expected.
C. They help improve people’s health.

5. what does the latest research show
A. Seven hours’ sleep is the most important to the heart.
B. Various factors lead to good heart health.
C. The chance of dying of heart disease has dropped.
D. Enough sleep contributes to good heart health.
6. What was the doctors’ reaction to the news on sleep
A. They discussed it publicly.
B. They thought it made sense.
C. They tried to ignore it.
D. They totally changed their mind.
7. What does the last paragraph mainly talk about
A. why different factors need to work together.
B. Why the author makes sleep his No. 1 suggestion.
C. What the importance of a healthy lifestyle is.
D. What prevents people from living healthily.

(2021·山东省部分重点中学联考)Food experts say washing could spread the germs on your turkey in the kitchen sink or nearby food. But it’s been a challenge trying convince cooks to stop rinsing(冲洗)off raw poultry Germs that can make people sick are common in the guts of healthy poultry and are legally allowed to be on raw turkey and chicken. The assumption is that nobody eats their raw poultry, and that thorough cooking will kill the bacteria.
The do-not-wash raw poultry advice from the USDA is relatively new and perhaps hasn’t caught on because it goes against the common belief that washing makes things clean said Chapman. Benjamin Chapman,a study author and food safety expert at north Carolina State university, said the instinct to wash raw poultry goes back at least decades hen people relied more on visual clues to spot problems with poultry. Meanwhile, washing hands and surfaces is also important.
But food preparation is a complicated act,and germs from poultry can be spread even if they’re not washed, especially when birds are removed from packaging.
The USDA-funded study stresses that point. Researchers sprayed raw chicken with a harmless strain of E. coli (大肠杆菌)and watched volunteer cooks at test kitchens. Among those who washed their raw chicken, about a quarter ended up spreading the bacteria to their lettuce. But even some of those who did not rinse the chicken got germs on the lettuce. And there are other opportunities for germs to survive on turkeys melting and cooking.
To ensure a bird is thoroughly cooked, they advise using a thermometer to check that the deepest and thickest parts of it have reached 165 degrees. Even after the meal is cooked you aren’t out of the danger zone. to keep turkey and other leftovers safe, experts say they should be refrigerated after two ours.
12. Why don’t people accept USDA’s advice
A. The advice is relatively new.
B. Cleaning seems more trustworthy.
C. Cooks clean the turkey before cooking it.
D. Heat can kill most germs and no one eats raw food.
3. What can be concluded from Paragraph 4
A. Food packages carry germs.
B. Hands and surfaces are easy to get E. coli.
C. Germs from a turkey can be spread whether it is washed or not.
D. Multiple methods should be applied to food to get rid of germs.
14. Which way may help to cook a turkey safely
A. Rinse off the turkey before it is heated.
B. Keep the turkey away from the lettuce and refrigerator.
C. Wash hands and packages before taking out the turkey.
D. Use a thermometer to check the temperature of the turkey.
15. From which section of a magazine is the text probably taken
A. Culture.

(2021·山东省临沂市高二模拟)It was an unusually quiet day in the emergency room on December 25.Quiet that is,except for those who were standing around the nurses’ station complaining about having to work on Christmas day I was the triage nurse that day and had just been out to the waiting room to clean up. Just then five bodies showed up at my triage desk,a pale woman and four small children.
“Are you all sick?”I asked suspiciously.
“Yes,”she said weakly and lowered her head.
But when it came to descriptions of their present problems, things got a little vague. Two of the children had headaches, but the headaches weren’t accompanied by the normal body language of holding the head or trying to keep it still. Two children had earaches, but only one could tell me which ear was affected. The mother complained of a cough but seemed to work to produce it.
Something was wrong, but i didn’t say anything. I explained to the mother that it might be a little while before doctor saw her. She responded, “Take your time;it’s warm in here.” She turned and, with a smile, guided her children into the waiting room.
On a hunch(call it nursing judgment),I checked the chart after the admitting clerk had finished registering the family. No address-they were homeless. The waiting room was warm. I looked out at the family huddled by the Christmas tree. The smallest one was pointing at the television and exclaiming something to her mother. The oldest one was looking at her refection in a decoration on the Christmas tree.
I went back to the nurses’ station and mentioned we had a homeless family in the waiting room. The nurses, complaining about working on Christmas Day,turned to compassion for a family just trying to get warm on Christmas Day. Then our tea went into action much as we do when there’s a medical emergency. But this one was a Christmas emergency. A special Christmas party was to be held.

第一节 Possible version1:
Many high schools allow for clubs. However, how to balance study and club activities has always been a concern for students. Here are my tips.
Firstly, put study in the first place, because our first responsibility is learning all we can from classes. Then draw up a schedule. When making a schedule, be sure to leave enough studying time. Finally, select a club carefully. We should choose wisely among the clubs we are truly interested in and those that will help on our way to success.
Only when we balance them well can we have great high school years!
第二节
One possible version:
We were all offered a free meal in the hospital cafeteria on Christmas Day, so we asked for that meal and prepared a banquet for our Christmas guests. We also needed presents, so we put together candies fruits and other things available from different apartments. Rushing in and out of the waiting room, our team made great efforts to make a warm party to meet the needs of the homeless family who just wanted to warm themselves on Christmas Day.
When the party ended, as the family walked to the door to leave, the mother came running back, gave me a hug and whispered, “Thanks for being our angels today.” As she got back to her children, they all waved one more time. Inside the nurses’ station, there stood a group of nurses with tears of joy in their eyes, who spent a Christmas Day that they will never forget.
